In tribute to my late Italian grandfather, “Frosty,” Frosty’s Garden is a fictitious Italian market located in Saratoga Springs, NY. The market embraces the art of gardening and growing fresh food at home, and sells Italian delicacies such as jams and sauces. Branding for the market includes packaging, a cookbook, and website, all advocating for the preservation of Italian heritage and culinary traditions.

I wanted Frosty’s Garden to have a vintage yet refined feel with Italian tile inspired patterns. The colors would be derived from natural sources such as vegetables and the old Italian countryside to convey a warm, earthy, and inviting palette.
The primary logo creates a basil leaf in the center (the favorite herb my grandpa would grow in his garden) while maintaining a tile-like shape, inspired by the architecture of Italy. The secondary logo takes on a horizontal shape, better fitted for the sauce label packaging.
Frosty’s Garden deliverables included a 102 page cookbook, From Soil to Sauce, that explains the essence cultivating flavor in the garden and bringing that into the kitchen. The book holds Frosty’s gardening tips as well as authentic Italian recipes.
